I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these vanilla beans! I ordered them for a new recipe and needed them before the weekend. They arrived much earlier than expected and they’re the best beans I’ve seen out of the few brands I’ve tried. This company has definitely earned a repeat customer!

very fast shipping and really great product! vanilla was fragrant and perfect for my needs :)

Arrived fast and I'm very impressed with the quality. It's so worth it!

I needed at least 7" beans and Kevin had them. They arrived in less than a week and now I can make vanilla. I sent Kevin a message about the bean length and he got back to me right away. I make 2 bottle of vanilla every year. I will be buying the beans from him from now on.

Vanilla was first: one sealed batch from Uganda, one line on the label, the way we intend to do every ingredient we sell.

Pods chosen for how they behave at the bench

Suppleness is the whole point of Grade A. A fresh pod bends around your finger without cracking, opens clean under the tip of a paring knife, and scrapes in one pass instead of crumbling, which matters most when the seeds end up somewhere people can see them.

Use these where vanilla carries the dessert: crème brûlée, pastry cream, ice-cream base, panna cotta. Steep the scraped pod in the warm cream along with the seeds; it has more to give than the scrape alone.

And when the pod has given everything to the custard, it isn't done. Rinse it, dry it, and bury it in a jar of sugar. Two weeks later you have vanilla sugar for the top of every shortbread you bake.

How to use it
  • Split, scrape, and steep in warm cream or milk.
  • Crème brûlée, custard, ice-cream base, pastry cream.
  • One pod flavors about a quart of custard; two make it the dessert they ask about.
  • Rinse and dry the spent pod, then bury it in sugar.
Storing it

Airtight jar, room temperature, out of the light. If a pod stiffens over the months, a few seconds over steam brings it back.
